The party is on! We will be putting up the first of 2 hoop houses this Thursday and Friday. We have to get the straw out of the farmer's barn (see prior post) so this has to get done this week! If you want to learn how to put up a hoop house or you just want to spend some time outdoors doing something productive, please come on out!
Date: Thurs and Friday July 5 and 6
Times: AM shift 7:00-noon; PM shift 5-9
Food and drink provided (please RSVP so we have enough). The site has running water but nothing else (read: camp bathroom). Feel free to come for as much or as little of the time as you want to. Children are also welcome (ours will be there).
There are ticks in abundance and there is poison ivy on the property (although not at the build site). Thanks to a healthy bat population, mosquitos have not been an issue. We will have a deet based bug repellant on site - if you'd like something different please bring it (and let me know what it is because we're looking for alternatives).
We have tools to go around, but if you want to bring your own we will be using sockets and drivers (or cordless drills w/socket adapters), pliers, hammers, tape measures and a few other misc. things. No special skills required. Please bring gloves - we have some extra but may not have enough to go around.
The farm is 1 mile north on Phillips road from Hwy. 24 between Topeka and Lawrence. Please let us know if you need more specific directions: jajlehrman (at) yahoo (dot) com . Hope to see you there!
